Gander to Gros Morne

Woke up early....again...but it was a good thing. Had the continental breakfast and hit the road by 9 for another 350 km day.
We broke it up into 100 km segments. Makes a difference to get out and stretch a bit.
Mostly cloud, fog and drizzle to start. But then, it's Newfoundland so no surprise there.

Newfoundland is hilly, but just like in western Canada, the further west we travel, the higher and steeper the hills.
They're not the Rockies, but I wouldn't want to climb them.
They are described as what's left after the glaciers shaved off the tops.

We should have reached here at 1pm, but once we hit the Gran Morne area, we had to stop and look around a bit. There were so many wow moments behind so many curves and hills.
By the way, if you love fishing, this is the place for you. We continue to see cars pulled to the side of the road and people just walk over to the nearest lake and fish. There are a lot of them.

Once we got settled in our very spacious room at Sugar Hill Inn in Norris Point, we took a bit of a drive 9 km further down the road to Rocky Harbour.
One thing we noticed is how small all of these communities are. Tourism and fishing appear to be the main sources of income here.
We've seen a few very big homes but mostly not so big or boarded up homes. The locals we've had the pleasure to talk to continue to be very friendly and down to earth in a big way.

Here's a sample of what we saw today.

Tomorrow we take a tour of a fjord. It takes an hour long hike to get to the boat as this fjord is land locked. Being a National Park, traffic is limited to specific roads to preserve what's here.

So an hour to the boat means an hour back to the car. All this walking....lol.
