We changed our minds...

I posted a while ago that Arlene and I were heading to Niagra Falls in June.
Well, we changed our minds. We've often talked about heading to the east coast and after conferring with close friends of ours, Jim and Barb Neufeld, we're headin' to the Rock. As in Newfoundland.
We've always been fans of Great Big Sea. Love attending their "kitchen party" concerts. They always seem to bring this great fun loving energy to the table! That energy along with all the history, icebergs, whale sightings, scenery and just taking in the culture that makes Newfoundland, Newfoundland made the decision easy.
Anyone we've talked to that's been there has come away wishing they could've spent more time exploring.
Our trip will start on the east side, in St John's,  and travel along the north side of Nfld to the Gros Morne Park to the west. We'll be stopping in at some B&B's along the way. The plan is to spend a cple days here and there to give us time to branch off if we so choose.
We've rented a car so we have a bit of freedom in that respect.
The trip includes a boat tour so we can get a little closer to some icebergs and whales out on the ocean.
Taking cameras along and I suspect my evenings will be filled with editing pictures we've taken along the way.
Some have compared the landscape to be similar to that of Ireland. Which suits us just fine as that is another place we've got on the bucket list.
We leave Sat June 15 and return June 24. Thankfully, our kids will hold down the fort at home.
This all came up so fast. I hope the trip doesn't zip by as well, but I suspect it will be over too soon.
Anyway, it's a busy week. Took in Bomber practice Monday, tilled the yard tonight. Band rehearsal Wed night. Band is playing Concert in the Park on Thursday night in Winkler, then Friday to get ready.
If you've ever thought of visiting the eastern most point in North America, check out the Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism website. They do a great job of presenting their province.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention our travel agent, Pauline, at CAA Travel in Altona who was instrumental in putting the trip together in short order. Big thanks goes out to her.
Well, here's hoping all goes smoothly. I'll try to update this as we go. But forgive me if I'm too busy taking it all in.
